The current owner, James "Gip" Gibson started with the company on Christmas eve in 1971, and 25 years later purchased the company. Family owned and operated ever since, Gip's son Wesley is Vice President and their employees have over 100 years of combined electrical experience.

The original brick building that houses Puckett-Mcgee Electric Supply was built in 1930. The aluminum building addition was erected in 1960. Puckett-McGee is located in what is now known as the South Columbus Historic District.
